What is Kybella?
Kybella is an injectable treatment that targets the fat cells beneath the chin. Its active ingredient, synthetic deoxycholic acid, replicates a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.
When injected into the fat beneath the chin, Kybella destroys the cells and prevents them from storing or accumulating fat. This results in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. It’s important to note that Kybella only targets fat cells; it does not affect other types of cells or tissues in the area. No incisions are made and the downtime is minimal.
- Slimmer facial appearance
- Reduction in submental fullness
- A more defined chin
- A more slender, graceful neckline
Why We Use Kybella for Chin Fat Reduction
At Studio 360 med spa, we offer Kybella to our patients due to its highly effective and non-invasive nature. Unlike surgical procedures, Kybella is both quick and requires minimal downtime. The procedure can be done within a lunch break and patients can return to their daily activities immediately.
The treatment also offers a more natural, gradual change to your look than plastic surgery or liposuction as it reduces chin fat over a series of treatments, rather than creating an immediate, dramatic reduction. For these reasons, we believe Kybella to be an excellent choice for chin fat reduction.

Ideal Candidates for Kybella
Good candidates for Kybella are men and women with a moderate-to-severe double chin or submental fullness caused by weight gain, genetics or aging.
Other factors to ensure that you are the perfect candidate for a Kybella treatment are:
- A stable weight
- Good overall health
- Realistic expectations about the results of the treatment
- No history of difficulty in swallowing or bleeding disorders
- No previous surgeries or treatments done to the neck area
We also know that Kybella may not be suitable for everyone. That’s why we recommend an initial consultation with one of our qualified healthcare professionals to discuss your aesthetic goals and determine the best treatment for you.
Before & Afters
It takes four to six weeks for results to appear after each treatment. You’ll notice a visible difference after just one Kybella injection, but the fat is typically completely eliminated after 2–6 total treatments. On average, cases of thicker submental fat tissue usually require more treatments.
What to Expect From Your Kybella Appointment
At your session, your provider will review your treatment plan with you and answer any questions you might have. Then, you’ll lie down on a comfortable treatment table. Your provider will first anesthetize the chin with a topical numbing cream to decrease any discomfort from the injections. They’ll then clean and disinfect the area with a surgical-grade cleansing solution.
Next, they’ll use a grid under the chin area to precisely mark out each injection site, ensuring an even distribution of the product below the skin.
A series of injections are then administered to the treatment area. Between injections, you’ll be given ice to assist with any discomfort and swelling that may result as a side effect.
Recovery and Aftercare
After the anesthetic wears off, you may experience swelling, bruising, and discomfort in the treated area. To alleviate these side effects, we recommend you:
- Place an ice pack or cold compress on the area for 20 minutes, then remove it for 20 minutes to prevent damaging your skin. Continue this pattern as desired for 24 hours.
- Apply arnica gel, an natural anti inflammatory and analgesic (pain reliever)
- Take over-the-counter medications such as acetaminophen
After getting Kybella, you can resume your normal activities with a few caveats. For 3–5 days after a session, sleep on your back with your head elevated to minimize swelling. Support your recovery by staying hydrated, and avoid vigorous exercise, sun and heat exposure.
Additionally, you should avoid steroids, caffeine, alcohol, high sodium foods, refined carbs and high sugar foods for 24–48 hours after the treatment. These substances can contribute to increased inflammation and irritation.
Contact your provider if you develop side effects such as an asymmetrical smile, skin ulcers, facial muscle weakness or difficulty swallowing.
Cost of Kybella in Highland Village
Kybella injections range between $1,200–$1,800 on average in Texas. Bear in mind that the total cost of your procedure will be determined by the number of treatment sessions you need, your location and your service care provider’s pricing. Kybella is considered a cosmetic procedure and isn’t covered by medical insurance.
At Studio 360 Med Spa, we offer a wide range of cosmetic treatments that can complement or, in some cases, serve as an alternative to Kybella. They include:

How long does the treatment take to complete?
It takes 20–30 mins to complete each Kybella treatment. As such, the treatment is very convenient as it doesn’t take as much time as surgical treatments, and the recovery time is much less.
How many injections can I expect?
You can expect to receive an average of 20–30 and a maximum of 50 injections per treatment. Each is quick, and you can take breaks between them as needed.
Will the fat come back again?
No, the treatment completely destroys the fat cells. As long as you maintain a healthy lifestyle, you should not regain fat in the treated area for a long time. However, your skin will continue to age, so you may experience some sagging in the future. If you do put on weight, you may regain some submental fullness.
Is Kybella painful?
Many patients do report some pain and discomfort after their Kybella treatments. Follow our guide to recovery and aftercare to alleviate as much discomfort as possible.
