Like so many medical cosmetic procedures today, the entire treatment is done through injection, making it easy on the patient and completely non-invasive. During your Sclerotherapy procedure, a solution called sclerosant is injected into the spider veins, acting as an irritant. The solution causes the spider veins to scar.

When the vein scars over, blood is then forced to re-route, because the human body has some pretty amazing healing properties. Veins without blood in them collapse, and are reabsorbed. Over the course of a few weeks, you’ll notice that the collapsed veins will disappear completely.

It’s also possible to treat isolated spider veins with broad band light therapy. The heat from the penetrating light will damage the walls of the vein, causing it to shrink and eventually fade away. This is an ideal treatment for patients with facial spider veins.

Sclerotherapy Aftercare

It’s incredibly important to follow all aftercare instructions provided by our doctors. Patients will be advised to wear compression bandages anywhere from one to three weeks after vein therapy treatment. Follow up appointments are necessary to make sure that the treatment has had effective progression, and the patient remains healthy and feeling good.
